RE: Best portable waste tanks?

I looked at all of them and decided on the 15 gallon Tote-n-Store. I wanted a tank only for gray water that would store easily in the front stroage of my fiver. It does have some draw backs such as it has only 2 wheels but it does come with the hitch adapter which works good. Being only 15 gallons I have to make more trips but the less weight makes it easy to handle. The price cannot be beat $84.00 at ppl on sale now. For me I couldn't justify paying an extra hundred dollars for a 4 wheel barker or thetford for about the same capacity.

RE: Clear up my ignorance......

Don't want to get off your question, but if your thinking about one, don't bother with an aluminum tripod for anything over 6,000 lbs, and if your over 10,000 lbs, I think I would look beyond the tripod althogether if you are trying to stabilze.
Even if someone would elect to support the entire fiver on the tri-pod (which is not recommended) it wouldn't be anywhere near 6000 pounds. The weight on the tripod would be your pin weight. The capacity for the Olympian tripod I use is 5000lbs. My pin weight is over 2200lbs but I am only snugging it , not supporting the entire front of the unit. So an aluminum tripod should be no problem on most units as long as you dont intend to use it in ways you shouldn't

RE: RVs sales down 80%

As long as China, Mexico, india and all the other nations of the world can build the widgit for 2 dollars and we charge 50 we loose. economics is what i think they call it, something that our leaders in Washington know nothing about it seems.
Would you like to work in India, China or Mexico? You think these working conditions and lack of benefits for people who build YOUR products are good as long as you get it cheap? Is that what you want in America as long as you don't have to do it yourself? Do you also support children working in sweat shops as long as you get the product cheap or put more money in your pocket?

RE: Indiana State Parks-Another State to Bypass !

The fees for Missouri State Parks are $21.00 for a water and electric site. For a difference of $3.00 you are going to miss out on some of the most beautiful State Parks you could camp at by boycotting Indiana State Parks. It's $3.00 more than your home State, what's the big deal? Relax and enjoy Indiana.

professor95,
The only thing worse I can think off than a blow out of a Chinese tire is a blow out of your Chinese underware.

RE: Help us pick a bunkhouse 5'er

Just about every manufacturer makes a bunkhouse model (some have several models with bunks} There are also several different bunkhouse configurations. We liked the Cardinal, Cedar Creek, Cypress and Everest. We chose the Cardinal for the dealer, the tires, and a few other personal preferences we had.

RE: winterize truck

Think about changing to synthetic oil if you are not already using it for ease in starting after the engine has cold soaked. It helps.

RE: Winterizing mistake - wrong antifreeze

Do not use bleach until you are sure all the anti freeze is flushed out. Bleach will do nothing but mask any remaining glycol.

RE: Probably a stupid quesiton, But how to level??

I have a couple of 2 x 10s that I had sparyed with line-x when my truck was done. I put a hinge in the middle so I fold them up if I need more than 2 inches to level the unit and it makes them easy to store and handle.

RE: When will small diesel pickups show up?

Soon. Diesel is the way to go. 30% more efficient than gas in all conditions (up to 70% more efficient when loaded), and the engines put out more power, and last longer.
All that's left is educating the public to these facts, and getting them away from the ideas they have about old diesels. You can't get all people to enjoy the smell, shake, wet feet, dirty carpet.
Plus repairs are twice as high and 3 times as often. Everybody doesn't want to have a wallet with a chain on it, and hang out at the truck stop.
What smell? Shake is non existant. I have no idea what wet feet and dirty carpets mean and the rest of your comments about cost of maintenace and repairs reeks of ignorance about a subject you appear to be clueless about. What does a chain on a wallet have to do in relation to someone owning a diesel? If you like your gasser good for you thats all that counts in your own narrow minded world. Just sounds like you are not pleased with your truck and you have to let everyone know about it. Go ahead and get a new Dura Max, then you will realize how silly your posts really are.

RE: When will small diesel pickups show up?

I still think people are gonna have a hard time paying the extra cash for the diesel option engine (especially in a smaller truck)-it adds around 7grand to my vehicle purchase price-yikes!
Time will tell, but I think you are exactly right. I do not think the mileage numbers will be a good as what people think. You can by alot of gas for $5000 to $7000 dollars. Secondly that will put the small diesel 1/2 ton in the same price range as a 3/4 ton diesel. If you intend on using it as a TV why not get the 3/4 ton? JMO

RE: Chinese Tire..any good?

In general, Chinese tires are consider as not a good thing to say the least. I would consider Michelin or Goodyear G614 LT235/85/16R. The only size they are manufactured in and Made in America.

RE: Iron Man LT tires on Forest River 5th Wheel

I have not heard of Iron Man either. If you are considering replacing them I would suggest looking at the Goodyear G614 LT235/85/16 which is an American made Goodyear tire. I understand your feelings about the Marathons but the G614 is specifically suited for large rvs. It is only manuafactured in the one size. I am surprised that Forest River does not put them on the Cedar Creek since they are the standard tire for the Cardinal. Unfortunately there are only a handful of viable options for tires for your application. If you indeed decide to replace your tires I would at least look into the Goodyear G614 before pulling the trigger on a new set of tires, just to weigh all your options in the size you require.

You will wish you had it if you do not get it now. It helps cool the entire fifth wheel through the ducts. We have the (2) 15k units. The height brings it to 13'-4"
